We invite you to join a 1-day virtual continuing education course to gain the tools and knowledge needed to provide high-quality and safe exercise to individuals with Parkinson’s Disease, provided by a Parkinson’s Disease specific doctor of physical therapy.

Course fees include:

  • Continuing education credits: 6 CEU hours available from NASM/AFAA
  • 8-week mentorship program
  • Selection of 2-3 dates over the course of 2 months to co-teach a class within your discipline, either virtually or live
  • Participation in live Facebook group for 30 min 2x/month for 2 months to continue to ask questions and gain new class ideas with other participants

In this class you can expect to learn:

  1. Current research that demonstrates the effectiveness of exercise as a tool for modifying disease progression in Parkinson’s.
  2. A variety of class ideas for all types of exercise and tools to modify these classes for a range of abilities to exercise.
  3. Didactic lab-based activities using case studies and videos to enhance your skills in designing class ideas that utilize the research presented.
  4. More about Parkinson’s Disease and the precautions to be aware of for safety.
  5. How to adapt your training to target the root cause of movement problems for people with Parkinson’s.

About the Instructor:

Meredith Roberts Lo, PT, DPT, has been specializing in neurorehabilitation since 2005. Her passion for working with the Parkinson’s community began with a class on Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery or PWR! where she learned the art and science behind treating this unique group. Since then, Meredith has trained and worked alongside the top rehab professionals and movement disorder specialists in the country. She has attended multiple unique training workshops such as PWR!, Allied Team in Training, and John Argue. She has practiced as a Parkinson’s specific physical therapist in multiple settings. She continues to be an active member of the APTA and the degenerative disease special interest group. Currently, she has founded Roberts Empowered Movement Center where she provides Parkinson’s specific physical therapy. She has also founded the nonprofit, Parkinson’s Pointe, to support the Parkinson’s community through education, community exercise and the development of resilience in Denver, Colorado. Meredith began teaching as a neuro rehabilitation assistant professor in 2008 and has since been teaching CEU courses for the therapy community. Meredith’s love for teaching and mentoring inspires her to continue to share her experience with her peers in hopes of improving the quality of life for those living with Parkinson’s disease.
