Parkinson’s Foundation Awards Grants in 38 States for Parkinson’s Community Programs
Parkinson’s Pointe Awarded $16,000 for Exercise Class Expansion
NEW YORK & MIAMI (August 7, 2025) – The Parkinson’s Foundation announced the recipients of more than $1 million in community grants for Parkinson’s disease (PD) programs across the U.S. The Foundation invests in community programs that make an impact in local communities and help people live better with PD by providing support for health, wellness and educational needs. Parkinson’s Pointe was awarded $16,000 for class expansion, especially exercise classes, which are increasing in demand. Parkinson’s Pointe doubled membership and hosted over 4,000 classes and programs in 2024, and is on pace to continue that rapid growth in 2025 in order to meet the needs of the local Parkinson’s Community.
“For the more than 1 million people living with PD in the U.S., access to local programs like support groups, exercise classes or educational courses is truly life-changing,” said Parkinson’s Foundation President and CEO John L. Lehr. “Investments in nation-wide community grant funding represents the Foundation’s on-going dedication to improving the lives of our Parkinson’s community across the country.”
Community grants range from a minimum of $10,000 to a maximum of $25,000 per recipient. The 2025 grant cycle funds programs that address mental health needs of people with PD, reach those who are PD care partners, and educate and deliver exercise specifically designed for people with PD. Selected organizations operate locally and demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
“With 90,000 people diagnosed with PD annually in the US, we know the need is continuing to arise for quality programming specifically for People with Parkinson’s. Our growth is a reflection of that need, and we are adding exciting new programs and classes to our calendar of events at Parkinson’s Pointe. We’re grateful for the Parkinson’s Foundation’s partnership in helping to provide funding for these impactful offerings. We see the difference these classes are making, and it’s more important than ever for us to focus on expanding to meet the needs of our growing community,” explains Parkinson’s Pointe Founder Dr Meredith Roberts Lo.
Since 2011, the Foundation has invested more than $12.7 million in 969 community-based programs. To see the full list of the 2025 community grant recipients, visit Parkinson.org/CommunityGrants.
